Here is how it works. If you are a graduating senior that attended Brentfield Elementary, you are invited by the sixth grade class of Brentfield to the Bobcat Breakfast. Proud parents and former teachers are also invited. Great fun is had by all.
The tables were laden with donut holes, muffins, bagels, orange juice and coffee. Yummy, but most everyone was too busy visiting to eat.
One of the best parts of the morning was that the sixth graders and seniors enjoyed visiting with their former teachers and principals. We were so proud of all of them.
There were hugs.
There was laughter.
Precious sweet and very bright Rachel is headed to THE University of Texas in Austin. She and her mom were so excited. Loved seeing them again.
Many of the seniors appear to have continued their friendships throughout their elementary, junior high, and high school years. That is wonderful!
One of the hardest parts of the morning was remembering names. The boy on the right is Peter – I easily remembered his name. Does that tell you something? Jeff is on the left. Jeff was/is one of the kindest and most considerate student I have ever had the opportunity to teach. He is going to be playing the trumpet in the Parkhill Band.
The seniors shared their plans and gave advice to the sixth graders. Sweet Mother of Pearl. These students are fantastic. Four of the top ten graduates at Pearce High School are from Brentfield. The student’s plans ranged from studying at schools in the Dallas area to going to Japan or Jerusalem. So many had scholarships.
For the words of advice, more than one senior warned against procrastination. (It appeared to be the voice of experience speaking.) You could tell how seriously the seniors attended to their studies. Several seniors warned the sixth graders to pay attention to their grades their freshman year. “It is hard to pull your grades up once they are low.”
The Bobcat Breakfast was a celebration filled with wonderful memories and great hope.
Blessings to you and yours,
To be honest, I was having so much fun visiting to take many pictures. Not only was it a blessing to see the students, but it was a reunion for the teachers.
