Foodie Amy sent word that I must try Blue Bell’s Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream.  I love all the suggestions and recommendations that come my way, and I especially pay attention when Foodie Amy speaks.  Foodie Amy knows food.  She should write a blog.

Now we all know and love Blue Bell Ice Cream – “from that little creamery in Brenham, Texas”.  (When I looked at their site, they no longer use that tag line.  I guess it is because they have gotten big.  Blue Bell is now sold in Virginia and the Carolinas.  How about that?)  They make good tasting ice cream, and I know why the rest of the world wants them.

To be perfectly honest, I was a little skeptical.  I like red velvet cake, but it is appears to be over done.  There are many different types of red velvet desserts – cakes, cupcakes, cookies, whoopee pies, Rice Krispie treats, cake pops, and the list goes on and on.    Oh, red velvet cake is great, but you get the idea.  I also thought I might be buying red ice cream filled with a dreaded red dye.  Not to worry.  Foodie Amy did not steer me wrong.

Sweet Mother of Pearl.  Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream is delicious.  The Blue Bell website describes Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream as – “A luscious red velvet cake ice cream with pieces of red velvet cake and a cream cheese icing swirl.”   That just about sums it up.  The smooth ice cream has chunky pieces of red velvet cake.  The pieces of red velvet cake are substantial and they are almost like eating brownie bites.  The cream cheese icing swirls sends this ice cream over the top.  I liked it.  I loved it.

Blue Bell appears to have had good luck with their cake and ice cream combinations.  It is so easy to have the cake, icing, and ice cream in one container.

Blessings to you and yours,

Blue Bell does not know me or Foodie Amy – I am just sharing.

What is your favorite brand and flavor of ice cream?
