The Richardson Women’s Club recently sponsored a fashion show that included fashions from Canal Clothing (the Now) and wonderful vintage clothing (the Then).
Mary Anne Wallace from Canal Clothing brought spring and summer clothing for us to preview.
Our own pretty Shirley was one of the models. Good job Shirley!
I learned – For your accessories, repeat a color from your ensemble. I think the phrase was, “Add a color. Repeat a color.” Mary Anne mentioned these were some of the prettiest models she had ever had. Her only complaint was that she did not have “normal” – size 12-14 – models. These models were all gorgeous and thin. Many of the tops were “one size fits most.” Okay. Some plus sizes would have been good to see, but I got some great ideas. The cool flowing tops made me wish for summer.
Dr. Rose-Mary Rumbley was the moderator for the “Then” part of the show. If you have never heard her speak, you have missed a good time. She is always quick witted. I love how she sees the humor in everyday living. She is also a young old person who continues to be active. She will sometimes speak to three groups in one day. Amazing.
Sweet Mother of Pearl. I did enjoy the vintage clothing. Just look at the beading on this dress. Pretty!
Remember the 1960’s?
Sorry the picture is dark, but I wanted to show you this. Short skirts and knee-high boots. I’m here to tell you – These ladies deserve my admiration for having the nerve to walk the runway. They did a fantastic job.
The velvet inset in this bodice is lovely. Doesn’t this dress looks like something out of a movie?
What a beautiful dress. WOW!
So pretty! Love the sleeves.
Tennis anyone? Even the rackets were antiques.
There were several vintage wedding dresses.
The lace on this dress was beautiful.
I think I had a prom dress that looked something like this – not white, but …
Be still my heart! For her European wedding, Frances’ daughter wore this dress. I like it. I love it.
What a fantastic vintage hat.
This ensemble is from the late 1800’s. Everything went together so perfectly.
It was interesting to see a Victorian mourning dress. Ladies would wear mourning dresses for several months to a year.
Around the room were other displays of vintage clothing.
How beautiful is this. Unbelievable.
One does not see many little fox collars any more.
The antique christening gowns were beyond wonderful. The handwork is so gorgeous.
What a fun enjoyable day we had.
Blessings to you and yours,
Oh, at the style show, we were reminded to wear 3/4 length sleeves or push up long sleeves. It will make you look like you have lost 10 pounds from your hips. Just sharing.
