I like it. I love it. I look forward to this day every day of the year – it is our annual Christmas Tea for the Grand Kids. Super Sister has five wonderful grandchildren that live in the area, and we have Hot Rod. Each year all of the children and their parents come for a Christmas Tea. Be still my heart. Knowing that these children look forward to our gathering is one of the biggest thrills in my life.
This year’s tea had a snowman theme. The tin snowmen mugs came from my dear friend Anne’s estate sale. There were snowman English crackers that pop open when you pull the ends. Inside are toys, riddles, and paper hats. There were also treats on the table of toys and candy.
When the breakfast table started becoming crowded, (Not hard when the table is so small.) Super Sister discovered that the top hat ornaments fit perfectly on top of the mugs. It was too cute.
Super Sister gave me these little sugar and cinnamon shakers. Aren’t they they cutest!
The first course of the tea was the savories: Sandwiches were egg salad, peanut butter and jelly, and chicken salad The pigs-in-the-blanket and sausage balls were the favorites of both the children and the adults. At the tea, the children sit at the table, and the adults have small plates and stand up and graze.
These little appetizer plates were found at the Christmas Tree Shops. Love them.
This was another of Super Sister’s cleaver ideas. Snowman noses (carrots) with dip. Wonderful!
The second course was scones. This year we had cinnamon caramel and cranberry pistachio scones served with Devonshire cream, cherry jam, and lemon curd.
The final course was the sweets.
I saw these Santa hat cupcakes on Pinterest and just had to try it. They are easy breezy, and beyond cute. I bought the cupcakes. Put a strawberry on the cupcake and then added icing around the base of the strawberry. A dot of icing on the top was the finishing touch..
Festive Kitchen makes these Cutie Pies. They are little two bite pies that are delicious. They have pecan, chocolate, and lemon, and I will be buying them again.
Sweet Mother of Pearl. These decorated thumbprint cookies are one of the cutest things I have ever seen. There are snowmen, Christmas trees, and reindeer. Since I bought these darling cookies this year, I did not make the melted snowmen cookies or the reindeer. Carson asked about the melted snowmen, and I felt sad that I did not make them. I will make them next year – promise. On the bottom tier of this server are the mincemeat cookies. They are very, very good.
Beverages were kid friendly – cranberry fizz (cranberry juice and ginger ale), hot chocolate, and hot apple cider.
Hot Rod has only had eight guitar lessons, and he performed for us. I was impressed. Great Job!
Super Sister read “A Snowman Names Just Bob” by Mark Kimball Moulton. It is a heartwarming story of friendship.
Gifts were exchanged. Carson and Hot Rod enjoy each other.
Then all the Grand Kids played and played. I loved it! Sadie, Avery, and Aubrey – three beautiful children.
Madison is growing up. Can you believe her fantastic hair? I wish I had just a little of her hair. This is one fantastic young lady. (BUT – for the record. I don’t want her to grow up.)
It was a wonderful day. Ashley’s mother Jackie joined us this year, and we certainly enjoyed being with her. (Sorry, I did not get a good picture of her, and I am sure no picture is better than a bad picture.)
Super Sister was so much help. I could not have done this gathering without her. Thank you!
I dearly love my nephews, and are so thankful when they come to visit.
Blessings to you and yours,
May you have a Merry Christmas!
