For many more years than I can remember, the Living Stones Bible Fellowship class (formerly known as Sunday School) has had a Christmas party. We eat, laugh and enjoy an ornament exchange. The highlight of the evening is the gifts we bring for the CPS (Child Protective Services) children. Each member of the class buys Christmas gifts for a child in the CPS system. We began sponsoring children in honor of friend BB’s daughter Heather. Heather had a deep love for children, and she was their advocate. Ministering to children in the CPS system is our way of honor the memory of Heather,
Our contact person with CPS is Lauren. We are always so excited when she comes to the party.
Lauren gave us a blue ribbon (which is the ribbon color for abused children) with this quote:
One hundred years from now it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had, nor what kind of clothes I wore. But the world may be a better place because I was important in the life of a child.
How true. This old former school teacher loves this quote. Thank you Lauren.
Packages for the children filled Francene’s office.
Linda, BB and Nancy are Santa’s helpers..
At the end of the evening, Lauren’s car was full! Reminds me of Santa’s sleigh.
What a blessing it is to be involved with Lauren and these CPS children.
Matthew 19:14 came to mind tonight.
King James Version (KJV)
14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
On another post, I will write more. The party was so much fun, and I want to tell you all about it.
