Air Force Academy

We did so many things in Colorado, but I do not want to bore you.  I thought I would do a blog about several places we visited in Colorado, but then when I began to write this, I had too many pictures of the Air Force Academy to show you.  Please bear with me.

This is an overview of the campus.  Number One Son tells me that the Air Force Academy is the only campus larger than the Texas Tech campus.  They get to count airfields. How beautiful to be surrounded by mountains.

In the Visitor Center (sorry no pictures), there are Academy displays, a theater with a good video about cadet life, a gift shop and a Subway restaurant.

I had seen pictures of the chapel at the Air Force Academy, and I wanted to see it.  The modern design sent my heart soaring.

The inside of the chapel literally took my breath away.  The blue glass and stained glass windows are dramatic and wonderful.

I learned something.  There are also chapels for other faiths in this building.

The Catholic chapel is so pretty.  The angels were magnificent, and friend Betty really loved them.

The Buddhist chapel was serene.

There was also a Jewish chapel.  Each chapel appeared to uniquely represent each faith.

Of course, Ever-Lovin’ was most impressed with the plane displays.

Isn’t this a wonderful picture of a plane (Ever-Lovin’ and Hot Rod could name the planes – not I) and port-a-potties?  Just had to share.

As we left, we stopped to get a picture of the B-52 on display.  The Air Force guide said, “The B-52 bomber has been the backbone of America’s manned bomber force for more than a half a century.”  That is over fifty years.  Amazing!

If you are visiting in Colorado Springs, Colorado, we recommend stopping at the Air Force Academy.  As we left, we felt proud to be Americans.  The principles instilled in these young men and women at the Air Force Academy are principles for all American.

Love and Blessings to you and yours,

Thank you for reading the blog.
