Let it be known – I consider this post to be a public service announcement.
The saga began last year before Christmas. While talking on the phone to a friend, I mentioned that I was going to get some things from Central Market for a gathering. Dear friend got excited. Would I buy her several jars of HEB Fruit Spread to give as Christmas gifts? (There are no HEB’s in our part of the world, but HEB is the parent company of Central Market, and Central Market carries some of the HEB brands.)
“Sure. But why?”
Then she began extolling the virtues of the HEB Fruit Spread. She mentioned how full of fruit it was, and how delicious it was, and how she thought it was the best. Now said friend has good taste, and I believed her. So when I bought her multiple jars of HEB Fruit Spread, I bought us a couple of jars also.
Sweet Mother of Pearl! Did we ever like them? Yes! These HEB Fruit Spreads (jams) are so good. Full of fruit and so tasty. And the best part – they are very reasonable. ($2.45 – Yes, a 15.5 ounce jar it is only $2.45 cents.). Go figure! The jars used to be hidden on the bottom shelf of the jams and jellies, but this time they were on the eye-level shelf. I guess I have bought enough of them, and now they are considered a best seller.
We love the Fruit Spread on toast or biscuits for morning breakfast. I also use it as filling for mini-apricot (any Fruit Spread you like would work) pastries. Heat the Fruit Spread and use as a glaze. Use the Fruit Spread as filling for mini-tarts. (Buy the shortbread tart shells (next to the canned pie filling), fill them with Fruit Spread, and add a berry on top of the tart. You will have an easy, eye-popping, and delicious dessert. Anyway you decide to use these delicious spreads, you will not be disappointed.
Now hear this. These Fruit Spreads make great “happies” (little gifts). The #2.45 price point make them a perfect gift when you need to give members of larger groups a small gift. We gave jars of the HEB Fruit Spread as favors at Jenny’s bridesmaids luncheon. (Of course I do not have a picture of it.) We tied tulle circles around the top of the jars, and attached a note of “sweet” thanks to the ribbon. They were a big hit! If I were still teaching, I would love to give a jar of the Fruit Spread to fellow teachers – I think they would love it. Of course, a jars of the Fruit Spread would make a great stocking stuffer. The ideas are endless.
For a bigger gift, put a jar with a loaf of bread, or a pan biscuits. Yummy! Combine with a jam jar and spreader. Or you could give a set of the jars of Fruit Spread to some lucky friend.
Mainly you need to be sure and buy some of the HEB Fruit Spreads for yourself and your sweet family. There are more flavors than the ones I bought this week, and we have enjoyed all of them. New to us this time is the Peach- Mango. Sounds good doesn’t it?
This is not a paid advertisment. Central Market does not know me. Because you are my friends, I wanted you to know about something very delicious and reasonable.
Enjoy!
Blessings to you and yours,
PS: Did you know you can not take pictures inside Central Market. How do I know? The photography patrol kindly asked me to not take pictures. (I wonder why?) Thus this blog is lacking in pictures.
