While preparing the food for the Royal Wedding Tea Shower, it was important that the guest feel like they were at an English tea. With this in mind, I planned to have savories, scones, and sweets. As usual I made too many items, but I love a full table.
Here is the menu served:
Savory:
Pepper Cheese Palmier
Cucumber Sandwiches
Endive Fruit Boats
White Pimento Cheese Sandwiches (These were so cute adorned with Union Jack picks)
Spinach Artichoke Spread on Toast
Chicken Salad Croissants
Scones:
Salted Caramel Scones
Blueberry Oatmeal Scones
Served with Clotted Cream, Silver Shred, and Preserves
Sweets:
Queen’s Cakes (made by my friend Saundra)
Texas White Sheet Cake (vanilla version of the famous Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake from my friend Nancy) We called it the Royal Wedding White Cake)
Plum Tarts (Little Jack Horner Plum Tarts)
Maids of Honour
Olive Oil Cakes with Lemon and Thyme (Jolly Good Lemon Thyme Cakes)
Grandma’s Sugar Cookies (Crowned Jewel Sugar Cookies)
Wheat Thins Candy (La Donna’s Candy in memory of our good friend)
A Tea Punch was served. This was easier than serving hot tea, and since the weather was warm it worked perfectly (although I know it wasn’t “British”)
